Our Story

Dr. Barker with his wife, Lisa, and dog Barkley, at Family Tree Dentistry in Wenatchee, WA.

Dr. Joe Barker and Lisa Barker have both grown up in Wenatchee, graduating from Wenatchee High School in 2005 and attending  separate universities in Seattle.  Lisa graduated Magna Cum Laude from Seattle Pacific University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications while receiving prerequisite training for dental hygiene school.  She then spent the next two years at Lake Washington Technical College where she received her Washington State Dental Hygiene license.  After marrying Joe during the summer of 2011, Lisa joined Joe in California where he was attending dental school, and soon thereafter she earned her California state license and found a wonderful general dentist in Temple City, with whom she worked full-time for two and a half years in a very busy, progressive dental practice.

Joe graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Washington and earned his Doctorate in Dental Medicine from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California, graduating in the top of his class.  Joe is thoroughly trained and experienced with the latest dental technologies and techniques in treatment planning, surgical extractions, implant placements, root canal therapies, and restorative and esthetic dentistry.  Joe has a passion for learning and for treatment tailored to the individual needs of his patients.

The company name, Family Tree Dentistry, was inspired by Dr. Barker and Lisa's extensive family history in the Wenatchee Valley, along with their family involvement in dentistry and agriculture, and the family atmosphere created at the dental office.  Dr. Barker is continuing a long legacy of family-practice dentists, including his father-in-law, Dr. James Mills, who opened his family dentistry office at 610 N. Mission Street in Wenatchee 35 years ago.  Joe's uncle, uncle-in-law, and brother-in-law are also family practice dentists.  Family Tree Dentistry is determined and excited to continue this family practice's legacy in providing a warm, welcoming atmosphere while incorporating techniques, technologies, and education that will improve each patients' experience.

Family Tree Dentistry thanks you for making us feel welcome and continuing to trust our family with your family's dental care.  We look forward to growing and sharing our passion for helping others achieve the oral health that they have always desired.  We are eager to connect with all existing patients, as well as welcoming new patients to drop by or call to schedule a new-patient appointment.

Sincerely,

Family Tree Dentistry
